Monday Happy List

It's Monday again! Sometimes I feel like this is my favorite day of the week. I love weekends, because then I get to spend the day with my sweetie, but on Mondays I get the house to myself for a little while. It's good for Brian and Will that they both have a place to retreat to get away from me and each other, but the only time I get time to myself is when they are both out of the house. Quiet time is nice. Since it's Monday, it's time for the Happy List. So here, in no particular order, are things that make me happy:
  • Peaceful alone time. Seriously. I need this.
  • My Crock Pot. I currently have a huge batch of chicken soup merrily cooking away. I love being able to get dinner started first thing in the morning, and not worry about it for the rest of the day.
  • My cell phone. So much more than just a phone, my HTC Eris has become my brain. Appointments, grocery lists, bill reminders, camera, Twitter, Facebook, blogging, reading my newsfeeds, email... what did I ever do without this thing?
  • My pets. Always willing to snuggle, or sleep on my lap, or just hang out with me; they're my furry buddies.
  • Having enough spare computer parts to build William a computer. Now he has his own computer in his own room. I should mention that having the skills to put the darn thing together also makes me very happy. :D
I was looking forward to my quiet time this morning, so of course I got a call from the high school letting me know that Will is in the office with hives. We were out of Benadryl (diphenhydramine), so I figured the easiest thing to do would be just go pick him up and go to the store. I needed to do some shopping anyway, and this way he could help me AND get some antihistamines for the hives as soon as possible. We're actually trying Zyrtec (cetirizine) instead of Benadryl this time, since it sometimes seems to take days for the Benadryl to work. So far, the Zyrtec is working, and the hives are fading. This is good, since they have testing at school for the next three days. Itching like mad is not helpful when you're trying to take tests, and the Zyrtec doesn't make you as drowsy as Benadryl. Usually. Here's hoping he's all better by tomorrow morning.
