I love the new ad by the Gap:
Why do I like it so much? Not just because it’s a cute jingle, or because of the great energy of the dancers… but because it’s all-inclusive. Even a shout-out to Solstice! It’s nice to see us pagans and non-believers getting a nod for a change.
Why else do I like it? Because it has the American Family Association’s panties in a bunch.
AFA believes this ad to be completely dismissive and disrespectful to those who celebrate the meaning and spirit of Christmas. AFA asked Gap for a meeting to discuss the ad, but Gap has not responded.
If this is Gap’s answer to recognizing Christmas, we are deeply disappointed.
WTF? Because they recognize that not everyone celebrates the Christian Christmas holiday, they’re disrespectful? I’m sorry, but this “War on Christmas” crap has gone way too far. Christmas is not the only holiday this season. Other people celebrate other holidays. We’re being disrespectful by not ignoring those people? Oh, to be one of the oppressed majority. Get over yourselves, people.
Anyway.. rant off.
Go Gap. I think I’ll stop by and get something this year for my holiday gift giving.

Edit: I sent them an email, and got a response:
Just a quick note to let you know how much I enjoy your holiday ad.
It’s nice to see an “all-inclusive” holiday ad campaign! Great energy
and a fun jingle. I’ll make it a point to stop and get something at the
Gap for a gift this year. My 15 year old son desperately needs some new
jeans.Nice work!
And their response:

holiday advertising campaign. Thank you for understanding our desire to
appeal to a broad cross-section of consumers and be respectful of a
variety of traditions and faiths. We appreciate your interest and are glad that you will continue to honor
