My knitting has gone to the dogs...

I’m Back!

Wow!  Sorry for the long absence… settling in to a new home and a new job has been just a tad shy of total chaos.  Good chaos, but chaos all the same.

We are (mostly) moved in to the house we bought in September.   There are still a few random boxes in some of the rooms, and the guest room is still not finished, but we’re here.   The dogs and the cats love it, and besides a few problems we had with Alley Cat peeing on stuff, everyone is settled in nicely.

Updates and pictures tomorrow!

Update…

We closed on Tuesday!!!  Due to some problems with the owners not being able to move out right away, we gave them the weekend to move.  We take possession of the house on Tuesday of next week.  We’ll do some moving in right away, but we should be totally moved in by the end of next weekend.  No guarantee on the unpacking, but the moving will be done at least.

I’ll update more once we get internet in the house.  See you all soon!!!

19 Aug

Well, here I am, sitting in the coffee shop…

Still waiting to close.

Hopefully we’ll hear something this week! Need to get a physical address to get my business started, so I guess I need to wait on that.

Just a quick check in… and a picture of Shiva just for you. :D

100 Posts!

Didn’t realize it, but yesterday’s post was number 100!  Not bad, considering I figured I’d get bored with this blog and stop posting to it after a week (this was attempt 4 or 5 at starting a blog).  I was going to do a contest, but with the move still not completed, it probably isn’t a good idea.  Maybe I’ll have a “finally moved in” contest once I get settled into the new house (if we ever close, that is).  Any good contest ideas?  I’d love to hear them.   The haiku contest was great fun, and I really loved the submissions to that one.

Anyway… just a short post today to keep in touch,  but more later.   I’m hoping it’s going to cool off enough so I can start knitting again.  It’s hard to knit when it’s so hot the yarn won’t slip through your fingers.

See you all later!

12 Aug

Yay!

Migraine averted. :D

Spent most of the day in bed, but the actual migraine never showed up.  That makes me very happy.  Which reminds me… the Monday happy list is late, so here, without further delay, is the Monday Happy List (on Tuesday).

Here, in no particular order, are five things that make me happy:

  1. Migraines going away!
  2. Possibly getting a job?  Here’s hoping.
  3. Nice cool mornings with a lovely breeze.
  4. A good night’s sleep
  5. Caramel Lattes.  Yum.

Anyway… that’s my post for the day, I’ll be back tomorrow with more to say.  Hopefully next time it will be more interesting. ;)

Another day of waiting…

So I figured I’d come down here to the coffee shop and check my email and update my blog. We had a pretty good weekend, it was very relaxing (except the Land’s End Road terror ride). We had to shave poor Shiva, he was seriously matted. Poor guy is so fat he can’t groom himself properly. I have no idea why all the other cats are nice and slim, and he’s a beached whale. I’ll have to take a picture of him to post here… he looks kind of like a giant turkey with all of his back fur shaved off. Poor cat.

Land's End

Here is the picture I promised of the view from Land’s End… gorgeous! Land’s end is on the very edge of the Grand Mesa in Colorado. 5500 feet above the valley floor, with sheer sides dropping away at the very top. Scary? Well, the drive up was scary, but we took the Mesa road down. That’s a nice easy wide road, not a bumpy dirt road filled with switchbacks up the side of a cliff.

Ok, time to sign off… flickering lights in the corners of my eyes are telling me that a migraine is on the way, so I need to go medicate to head it off at the pass.  Wish me luck!

Quick update … and a cute picture!

We drove up Land’s End Road to get to the top of Grand Mesa yesterday… have I ever mentioned I’m afraid of heights? Well, we won’t be doing that again. I love the view from the top, but OMG that road was scary.

At the top of the Mesa, at Land’s End, there are bunch of chipmunks that will eat right out of your hand. Here is me feeding one of them a peanut.

Isn’t he cute? Anyway… more pictures tomorrow. None from the way up (I was too busy hanging on with my eyes closed), but I got a few good ones from the top. Good thing there’s another way down, or I’d probably still be up there.

Weekend.

We’re at Brian’s parents’ house borrowing their wifi for a few minutes, and I figured I’d drop in for a quick update. Kitties are all good, and so are the dogs. The temperatures here have dropped a few degrees and we had a lovely thunderstorm last night. Ares woke me up when it started… poking me with his paw to tell me, “MOM! The thunder is scary!” Poor guy. I made him lay down next to the bed and he calmed down.

We’re off taking a drive this afternoon. Brian is taking me up to the top of Grand Mesa, and I’ll be taking pictures. I’ll post the good ones here. I just hope it’s not too scary driving up there.

Ok, time to head out, I’ll update sometime in the next few days with pictures!

And yet another delay…

The title company sent in the wrong paperwork for the title purge. Correct paperwork was sent in on Wednesday. Estimated time of paperwork completion - after the 12th. Result - closing has been moved back to the 20th.

Is it time to freak out yet? :D

Walking the dogs

Part of my “routine” here is taking the dogs out for a walk every morning. They’re loving walking off leash in the hayfield. It’s beautiful in the mornings, but I just need to remember to spray myself with mosquito repellent or they bite me like crazy.

Isn’t it gorgeous? I love it. Open fields with the Colorado National Monument in the background. There is a dirt road that goes around the field, so we just walk down that. Plenty of things for the boys to find and sniff.

Gotta watch out for those scary butterflies, you know. They might attack.

I think once the weather cools off I’m really going to enjoy it here. Lots of great photo targets, space for the dogs to run… good stuff!
