Named after the god of war, Ares is Apollo’s brother and littermate. They’ve been together their entire lives, and they’re best friends. Possibly misnamed, Ares is a bit of a pushover. I love this dog… he’s not quite right in the head, but he’s sooo sweet. A bit neurotic, a bit of an impulse control problem, but he loves everyone to pieces. If you ever need a dog to cuddle with, Ares will oblige. He loves to snuggle, and lay on the couch with his head on my lap. Where his brother can be a bit stand-offish, he craves human (or feline) attention.
As mentioned in Apollo’s bio, he does have fairly severe hip displaysia, but he still gets around pretty well.
Here he is, ready to play.
Following his brother on “yard patrol”. He follows Apollo everywhere.
I’m so glad I have both of them. I was a bit leery of getting two Border Collies, but my husband insisted that they’d keep each other company. He was right (like he’s always right), and they’re best of friends AND playmates. I don’t think having two of them interfered with us bonding with them, and it just takes a bit more effort to train two at a time. It’s a bit like having two fairly well behaved two-year-olds in the house. They still get into trouble, but they mind better than any of my kids ever did.
