It was suggested to me that a new blog needs a celebration. How do you celebrate a blog? Well, by having a contest! And not just any contest. This contest is a haiku contest. Write your best haiku about sock yarn, and I will pick someone to win this lovely skein of hand-dyed (by me!) sock yarn. It’s not the most perfect dye-job in the world, as I am still learning. But the colors are fun (if you like green, that is… if you hate green, I have a couple more undyed hanks that I could give a shot at dyeing in the colors you like. No guarantees, though), and hey.. it’s sock yarn!
This is a lovely skein, dyed in green, blue and yellow, and completely overdyed in green. It is a 75% Superwash Merino Wool/25% Nylon blend, with 462 yards (422 meters) in the skein.

If you’re not sure what a haiku is, here is the dictionary definition:
noun: An unrhymed verse form of Japanese origin having three lines containing usually five, seven, and five syllables respectively.
Here is an example:
Sock yarn in my stash
Lovingly dyed with kool-aid
Delicious color.
Easy… leave a comment with your haiku in it, and you’re automatically entered! I will run the contest through May 15th, and on the 16th I will choose a winner. Winner will be completely subjective… I pick the one I like the best! I’ll need your email address or a link to your blog to notify you if you’re the winner.
Thanks for visiting!
Update, May 8: I have added a matching set of stitch markers to the prize!

Yearning for sock yarn,
It’s not nice to be greedy,
Still I want it all!
And one more for good luck:
Look at their stashes,
While I’m cruising Ravelry,
Should not wish them ill!
Sounds of needles click
May fifteen is coming soon
My sandles tear waiting
Winning is your choice
Think-No postage required
A sock free for all
Surrounded by yarn,
Does sock yarn bring happiness?
Yes, it surely does!
You just *had* to say it, didn’t you?
Thanks for the chance, because that’s gorgeous yarn!

For two years now, and yet
Have finished just one
I procrastinate
Four socks on needles, but see
Green…cast on again!
Sitting in my dorm,
Studying for my finals,
Wish I could knit socks.
Green is not my shade,
Still I love the stitch markers,
Dare I try to win?
All those hand knit socks,
Wish I were a millipede
Wear them all at once.
I had some sock yarn
From a pretty famous girl
But now I want more.
Hand knit socks of blue,
Did not rinse the dye all out.
Sickly looking feet.
Thought I might not win.
Tried to dye some yarn – not good.
Nice green fingers though!
While I’m dying yarn
Hubby asks “How’s it going?”
Now he is green too.
Extra benefit
of dying yarn in kitchen.
Green polka-dot walls.
Whispers from the hall
“How’d the yarn turn out, daddy?”
“Ooohhh, honey……Don’t ask”.
Happy Mother’s Day all!
Damn… I have no idea how I’m going to choose a winner. These are great!
Four more days! I will announce the winner on the 16th (or the 17th – it might take me a little bit to figure out the winner).
Good luck to everyone!
