Woke up this morning after a good night’s sleep (for a change!) and I feel like a human being again. I am SO tired of being sick. Maybe I can get something accomplished today. My poor house looks like a tornado hit it.
Knitting: I ripped out the Koolhaas Hat for a THIRD time, and it is on hold for now. Apparantly my brain is having issues with the cables on that one because I keep messing up the pattern. I’ll give it a try some other time when I’m mentally all here.
I’m using the malabrigo yarn that I ripped out to make another Seaman’s Cap.. I really love that pattern.
Also.. I found a pattern for two socks on one long circular needle, and I’m going to try to get those cast on after I do some housework. Pictures to follow!
Sorry I have not been posting.. I have nasssty flu and have not been up to posting much of anything anywhere. Updates later on two new projects: a Koolhaas Hat for Brian, and a yummy warm shawl for someone. Not sure who this one is for yet. I’ll get pictures up as soon as I’m feeling better. Right now I’m going to go sit back on the couch, watch TV, and knit.

Ok, I just LOVE this pattern! Super easy.. a 1×3 rib, gorgeous decreases, and a snug fit. I’m going to have to make another one. I made this one in Brown Sheep’s Cotton Fleece, which is 80% cotton/20% wool. Nice feel, but I don’t know if it will be as warm as an all wool one. Washable, though. I picked up a couple of balls of Lamb’s Pride Superwash Worsted in charcoal, and I’m going to put one together with that. We’ll see how it comes out.
Still working on the blanket, I’m just about 3/4 of the way done. I’d like to get done by this weekend, but I don’t know if I can make myself do it. So much stockinette! I really love the way the blanket is coming out, though.. so I just keep working on it.
Re-Quant is currently taking a break, I may work on it some more this weekend. I’ve discovered that entrelac required peace and quiet and no interruptions for me not to screw it up.
Oh.. I picked up some sock yarn this weekend… I’m having a sock urge.

Well, that wasn’t so bad.. once you get the hang of entrelac, it’s pretty easy. I’m going to pick out some new yarn and make another one. This time, I think I’ll go with something a bit more subdued. This one is BRIGHT! My sweetie says it looks like it’s a throwback to the 60’s. Well, he’s probably right, but I like it anyway. It’s fun! And NO, you don’t get a picture of me wearing it.
I did make a couple of mistakes.. most of which I could just ignore (picking up the right stitches can be a pain). However, I managed to drop a stitch somewhere in the beginning, and I think it was a picked up stitch. I had two stitches that were not connected to
anything. I put markers on them when I found them (I was about 3/4 of the way through), and went back and just tied them together from the back when I was finished. One thing about entrelac.. you have a definite “backside” that nobody sees, and hiding the mistake was very easy. I just used a short piece of yarn that blended with the colors, tied them together, and sewed in the ends. Looks a bit sloppy from the backside, but you’d never guess it from the front. I like it.
On another front.. the snow has finally ceased, leaving us to tunnel out of the front door. It’s about damn time. I think I’m going to head to the local yarn store and sit with the girls. I think I have a touch of cabin fever.

Moving right along on my first entrelac pattern.. needed a change up from the baby blanket, so I decided to give Quant a try. It took me a little while to get the hang of it (I started with some scrap yarn to see what it was like), but I’m moving right along now. Over halfway finished!
It’s been a quiet day today.. snow like mad (probably a foot and a half so far), and watching the superbowl is out. I’m not going out every 30 minutes to remove the snow from the satellite dish! I guess I’ll watch the commercials on myspace tomorrow.
The dogs love the snow.. I had to make them come in when they got soaked. They’d stay out there all day if I let them. Last time I let them out, the snow was neck deep on them! We’ve got another foot or so on the way… I hope they can make it through the front yard tomorrow.
Ok, more tomorrow, I’ll put up some pictures of the snow and and updated picture of the entrelac project.
