Yep, story of my life. Only a minor delay (hopefully) of two weeks. Our closing has been pushed back to the 12th of August due to title issues. Nothing major, but it’s going to delay things. So, we’re going to have a few weeks between homes. Fortunately, we can stay with Brian’s family, but there is no room for four cats in a house that already has two. So, we will be boarding them. Brian found a great little place that just boards cats (no barking dogs to stress them) in giant kitty condos, not little cages. Two cats to a condo, with playtimes, fishtanks, and tvs to watch.
Think they’ll be comfy? I sure hope so. We’re going to put Karma and Shiva in one, and Alley Cat and Ozzy in another. That seems to be the best division, since the girls really don’t get along, and Karma really doesn’t like Ozzy all that much. She does like Shiva, though, so they should be happy in there together. I’ll take pictures when we get them settled and post them here.
Yay! It’s Monday! That means it’s time for another Happy List.
Here, in no particular order, are five things that make me happy.
We close on our house on the 29th. Yay!
Packing nearing completion.
A clean kitchen
Doggies who are good boys and listen to me when I tell them to stop barking at every damn thing that walks past.
Fajitas for dinner. Yum.
There you have it… five things that are currently making me quite happy. More updates to come, and possibly… knitting! We shall see. I have buried myself in housework and reading and have been ignoring my computer AND my knitting for the past few weeks. Maybe I’ll get a chance to get some knitting done this week, since I’ll be spending some time at my LYS.
I hate waiting. I swear, I am the most impatient person I know. Right up until the moment the decision gets made, I’m fine. Once the decision is made, I want action. Now. Quickly.
Unfortunately, we don’t close on the house until the 29th, and can’t move in until August 2nd, so I have to wait. I’m not good at this. Brian will be heading out this weekend to start his new job, and I’m going to be staying here until the end of the month to finish packing and cleaning. The majority of our stuff is already moved and in storage, so it shouldn’t be too difficult.
We finally got the chance to look at the house on Sunday (yes, we made an offer on a house we’d never seen), and I really like it. It’s not big, but it’s cute, and well laid out. Plenty of room for cats and dogs, with a big backyard for the dogs to play. There is privacy fencing and a covered patio… I can see lots of barbeques and relaxing outside. I didn’t take any pictures, as it’s still occupied and I didn’t want to be rude, but he’re a few from the listing.
This is the front from the street… all of the sunflowers are a bit overgrown, and I’m going to pull them out and probably put roses there. Or a tree. I’m trying to talk Brian into a weeping willow, but he hates the little tiny leaves.
The kitchen is tiny, but pretty well laid out, with a decent amount of storage. The laundry room is right through that door, with plenty of room for cat boxes. Yay!
This is the cute little covered patio.. I love it out here. I’m going to add some trellises and wisteria. I’m really going to enjoy this a lot.
Well, we’ve headed to Grand Junction on an exploratory trip, and of course, nobody will rent to us with six animals. Woe! I don’t want to try to buy a house on the spur of the moment… that’s something we really want to take our time with. So, the solution that has presented itself is to buy an RV (5th wheel) and live in it until we pay it off, then find a house to buy.
What is going to be entertaining is living in a 30′-35′ RV with four cats. We haven’t definitely decided on this course of action, but the more we talk about it, the more it seems like the right option. Especially since we have to move next week.
Yes, I’m still here! Chaos and insanity abound, but things are going well. Except we don’t have a place to live yet. Hard to move if you have nowhere to move into! If you live in the Grand Junction area and are willing to rent to nice people with a lot of pets, let me know!
Off to continue my search for a nice place to live… but I’ll leave you with my happy list for the day.
Here, in random order, are five things that make me happy.
A Chinese restaurant opening up within walking distance of my house (mmmm sweet and sour chicken)!
The vet filling my prescription for kitty cat sedatives. That will make the drive much easier on everyone.
Ice cream. Yum!
The weather finally warming up enough to sleep with the windows open.
Taking walks with my dogs.
I’ll be back posting as soon as I can, and I’ll try to keep everyone updated!
Finding out Brian only has 3 more days of overtime, then back to normal schedule.
Crossing things off of my “To Do before we move” list.
New sunglasses today!
Here is a fun movie for anyone interested in Spore… I’ve been waiting for this game for over three years now. This is only a taste, but I’m loving it so far!
This is “Frogspot”, one of my first attempts at creating a new creature. Enjoy!
Sorry I haven’t been updating as often, but it’s been a bit chaotic around here. We’ve found out we have about three weeks to move, so I’ve been running around like crazy trying to get stuff accomplished (and failing, of course).
Needless to say, I’m a bit of a nutcase right now. I will post an update next week, promise!
Ah, what a great day for a Monday. Except I have to pack and I can’t find boxes. Isn’t moving fun? I’m excited about moving, but not about the actual process, if you know what I mean. We moved at least once a year when I was a kid, and I just got heartily sick of packing, unpacking and re-packing all my stuff. I wish I could just snap my fingers and have it all packed, moved and unpacked in the new place.
If only.
Ok, it’s Monday, and Monday means it’s time for a new Happy List! So here, in no particular order, are five things that make me happy:
Speaking of Folding@home and SETI@home, if you would like to contribute to Team Ravelry’s efforts with either one, our Folding@home team number is 131486, and our SETI@home team number is 136486. It doesn’t cost anything, you just need to run a little teeny program in your system tray. If you’re a member of Ravelry, you can visit our group’s forum to find out more.
Done! I dyed the singles and then plied them together on Linda’s spinning wheel. Very simple dye job… black cherry and grape Kool-Aid, dumped one on each side of the pot. there is a teeny bit of difference in the two, and it showed up when I plied them together.
See? Yarn! Now I just need to figure out what to knit with it. Not sure how many yards are there, but I’m sure it’s not many. Maybe a simple hat. We’ll see.
