Mine are all gone. It’s very weird.
I went to the dentist this morning (we’ve been planning this for months) and had ALL of my teeth pulled out. Why? Well, there was hardly any bone holding them in, and we wanted to get them out before I lost any more bone. So today was the day.
I was supposed to get my dentures put in today so I didn’t have to go without any teeth, but for some reason the lab sent someone else’s upper instead of mine. The lower fits perfectly, so I have bottom teeth (yay!) but no go on the uppers. It’ll be at least a week before they can remake them. No, I’m not posting pictures until I get ALL my teeth.
Good news is that they’re going to waive the fee for the dentures, so that’s a lot of money that we’ll save at the cost of me not having top teeth for a week. I think I can live with that.
Brian is at City Market picking up some Percocet for me, so I should be pretty pain free for the rest of the day. The Lidocaine is wearing off a bit now, so I’m really looking forward to him getting back with the meds.
Now I just need to figure out how to eat some yogurt or something so I don’t have to take them on an empty stomach.
Yes, with three of them I guess you can call it a pack, right? I snapped a few pictures today (testing out the new camera), and they came out pretty well. Pixel was most uncooperative… in typical puppy fashion. So, her picture is a little blurred.
I love how the one ear sticks up like that. Some days it’s that ear, some days it’s the other, and every once in a while it’s both. I need to get a picture of her with both ears up, she looks like a bat.
Here is Mr. Apollo, looking as handsome and photogenic as ever. He’s starting to get a little grey around the eyes, but you’d never guess he’s 7 years old now.
And then there is Ares. Remember, he’s the same age as Apollo. He is showing every bit of his age and then some. He’s having a bad pain day today, it was really difficult for him to sit for this picture. I feel bad just looking at him, all hunched over like that. I wish there was something I could do to help him feel better. Most days he’s doing all right, though. Especially sunny days when he can lay outside and bask in the warmth.
I love my puppies. They are wonderful dogs.

Oh boy, does she ever. She’s just been chasing the ball up to this point, but today she figured out that if she brings the ball back to me, I throw it again. Most of the time she doesn’t get it very close, but we’re definitely making progress. I took this picture after we were finished for the day. She’s asking me to throw the ball, mom! I didn’t get a shot of her in her “border collie” pose, but she’s definitely fixated on that ball. We have another Ares in the making.
Oh, did I mention the ground at the dog park was wet? Just a little bit? Not quite mud, but not dry at all. When we finished, we had a very filthy puppy. A happy puppy, but very dirty. She’s getting used to the pickup, though. Good thing we have that blanket on the back seat. Dirty, dirty dog.
Happy dog, but damn. She needs a bath.
When we got home, she got her bath. I love how dogs act once you get them out of the bath… high speed puppy, tearing around the house because she’s all wet and glad to be out of the tub.
Then she ran into the office and tried to lick herself dry. Silly puppy. I put her down for a nap in her crate, and she slept for a couple of hours. Then, of course, back to being her normal high speed border collie self.
I love my dogs. I can’t keep up with them, but I love them.
Say that three times fast!
Pixel is getting better at riding in the truck. We drove down to the Open Space Park to practice a little leash walking, as well as “let’s ride in the truck to somewhere fun” training. She didn’t get sick, and only got a bit drooly. Much better than last time!
I really need to get some pictures of her when she’s not on the leash, but that’s when I always think about taking pictures.
We managed to walk almost halfway around the pond, but I had to stop and turn back when my knee started bothering me. I’ve had an old ACL injury that has been painful the past week, and it definitely let me know when it was time to turn back.
There were plenty of black clouds off to the north, but we had sunshine and warmth for our walk. It didn’t start to rain until we’d been back home for an hour or so. I did get a really nice shot of the Colorado National Monument with my phone, though.
Well, not really the dog park, but the Fruita Open Space Park, otherwise known as “Snooks Bottom”. I’ve taken the boys here a few times. They love to run and chase the ball, and there is a ton of space for them to just GO.
Pixel made the trip ok, but she was a bit drooly by the time we got here. At least she didn’t barf, so we’re making progress. Poor thing, it sucks to be carsick.
I let both of the boys off-leash like I usually do, but Pixel’s recall isn’t too hot so I kept her on the leash until we got pretty far away from the main entrance to the park. She was not happy about this. Actually, not happy is an understatement. She sounded like someone was killing her. Poor baby, can’t run with the big boys.
If you look closely, you can see her crying because she couldn’t be with her brothers. I finally let her off leash once we got to the white post off to the top left of the picture. It was cute, she was Apollo’s little shadow.
You have to look closely (you should be able to click on the picture to zoom in), but you can see three dogs coming toward me at an extremely high speed. Pixel can keep up with Apollo with no trouble at all.
Normally I don’t have any problem with the boys off-leash, but they were not listening to me today. I finally realized why… I didn’t have a ball with me. That’s the invisible tether that’s always worked so well I didn’t notice it. Next time, I bring the ball.
I finally got everyone back together and loaded up, and now I am completely done for the day.
They aren’t, of course.
I got to go visit my son Jeff and his family this weekend. I had so much fun!
This is my granddaughter Riley. She is just the cutest thing! She’s right at the age where she smiles a lot, too. I really enjoyed cuddling with her while I was there.
Zoe, Emily, and Jason are all playing with their electronic devices. I sure wish I had one of these when I was a kid.
Jason playing with his cars after lunch.
I had a wonderful time, and will be posting more pictures after I get them out of my camera.
Every day is a good day for a Carl Sagan quote (h/t to Sam Ballowe on Google+).
Yes she did.
It was actually kind of hilarious. Brian was in an instance in World of Warcraft, and I was clipping online coupons at City Market. The dogs were all laying on the floor nearby. All of sudden, the internet starts to really slow down, Brian’s ping shoots up to 1000, and then *POOF* no internet.
Of course, since we have a flaky router, I just asked Brian if he’d go reset it. As soon as we turned around, this is what we saw. Well, one of the ends had a puppy attached to it, but we fixed that part.
Fortunately, we had one more extra long Ethernet cable, attached to the server. We moved that to replace the eaten cable, and used a shorter cable for the server. We sprayed the whole thing with bitter apple spray, and done!
tl;dr: Pixel ate the internet, we fixed it.
